Which corps is the oldest continuous corps?
This is a commonly asked question... who is the oldest continuous corps? in the country or in my province? The prerequisite is date formed, if the corps stood down for any period and was reformed that is a different matter, broken service is just that. Some corps have adopted numbers of previous corps in the same town and sometimes from elsewhere, that does not constitute length of service.
The best example of broken or interrupted service is:
#1 Corps de Cadets Seminaire de St. Hyacinthe, St-Hyacinthe, QC formed November 28, 1879 disbanded March 31, 1948
#1 Corps de Cadets du 6e Bataillon Royal 22e Régiment, St-Hyacinthe, QC reformed January 2, 1960
Hence 12 years broken service
