Capt Gary Hurst, CD, reviewing officer. Capt Hurst has served at Vernon ACSTC starting in 1995 and returning in 2000 as the Fin Warrant, he took his commission in 2002 worked as the Movements Officer since 2005, a challenging task to which he has always performed with a smile. Capt Hurst is a very respected member of the staff and will on the following Monday be retiring for the CF after an amazing 45 years. (VACSTC, Wayne Emde)

This day in Canadian Military History...

12 August 1756
The Marquis de Montcalm opens fire on the English strongholds of Ft. Ontario and Chouaguen (Oswego, N.Y.) with a siege battery of 80 guns. These eastern forts are soon evacuated in favour of the main stronghold across the river.



12 August 1918
Although the Battle of Amiens has ground to a halt after 4 days of successful advances, two more Canadians win the Victoria Cross in local actions. These are in addition to the eight VCs won by Canadians over the past three days.
