The Huron mission at St. Joseph (south-east of Midland, Ont.), holding 400 native families, is attacked by a large Iroquois war party. Seven hundred men are killed or wounded; most of the women and children are taken prisoner.

At 5:00 this morning, Canadians from of the North Shore Regiment, Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and Le Regiment de la Chaudiere, along with tanks from the Fort Garry Horse, launch their attack on the French city of Caen.
