25 July 1814
Anglo-Canadian and American forces clash at the Battle of Lundy's Lane (Niagara Falls, Ont); an encounter that will be the bloodiest in the war. The two armies attack and counter-attack each other in stifling heat, inflicting a total of 2000 casualties, before the Americans finally decide to withdraw from the field.

Western Canadians from the 1st British Columbia Regiment detonate a large mine which repulses a German attack on their positions at Mont Sorrel.
