This day in Canadian Military History...
15 July 1918
The Canadian Corps returns to the front line after completing a long needed rest. Before moving into rest billets in early May the Corps had held the line around Lens and Vimy Ridge for 92 days, through the worst of the German spring offensive.
15 July 1943Troops of the First Canadian Division encounter the first German defenders in Sicily (Italian resistance has been negligeable so far). The enemy troops, from the Herman Goring Division, ambush a Canadian column and retreat before their positions are battered by Canadian artillery.
