American troops in Sandwich (Windsor, Ont.) retreat back across the river to their garrison at Detroit after an uneventful 30-day occupation of the town.

Canadians from Lord Strathcona's Horse attack Boer positions outside the town of Amersfoort in South Africa. Charging through a hail of bullets, they capture the town and secure it for the advancing infantry.
