Cdt Jessika Amesse of 2938 Royal Canadian Hussars RC(Army)CC in St Constant, QC signs for her clothing. Cdt Amesse is one of just six cadets from Quebec this summer. She has taken summer training previously in Valcartier ACSTC in 2004, Blackdown ACSTC in 2005 and hopes to attend an exchange in 2007 or a wilderness course at Whitehorse ACSTC. 9 July 1755
General Braddock's 2000 British regulars are defeated by a combined force of 850 French regulars, Canadian militia, and native allies at Ft. Duquesne (near Pittsburgh, Penn.). Braddock and most of his force are killed while the French report the loss of barely a dozen men.
9 July 1944The city of Caen is liberated by Canadian and British troops, 33 days after it was expected to fall. During this time, 3500 Canadians have become casualties, but German ground and air formations have been decimated.
