Another hot day, 39c downtown or on the old Fahrenheit scale... 102f... hot no matter how you look at it. (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)
Back at camp... Cdt Neil Ellwood 3003 Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry RC(Army)CC Edgerton AB works on his boots. His trick for getting a good shine "just little bits of polish and a little water" Cdt Ellwood is a member of Guard Coy on his drill & ceremonial course (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)
A remarkable talent. Cdt Arthur Rintoul 2887 Rocky Mountain Rangers RC(Army)CC 100 Mile House BC is a gifted young artist. The 16 year old cadet has been drawing for just two years "I just wanted to see if I could shade with a ball point pen", and shading he does! He also uses a needle point pen to great effect. His drawings take on average 10-20 hours to complete, he has however been working on a particularly complicated drawing that took 50 hours. He looks up to Todd McFarlane the artist best known for his work on Spawn, Cdt Rintoul would like to continue drawing but doesn't feel there's a future in it with so much computer animation prevalent these days. Hopefully someone will recognize his amazing ability and eye for detail. (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)
Close up of one of his pieces, the camera hardly does it justice. (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)
Cdt Samantha Moore 3061 1 Combat Engineer Regiment RC(Army)CC Morinville AB shows off a well polished boot. She's had a lot of practice beginning when she was 8 years old, she got her start helping shine her older brother's boots when he was a member of the corps and she was a navy league cadet. her entire family is militarily connected, her father is soldier at Garrison Edmonton, he mom a 2Lt with her cadet corps, both her older brother sister and brother were cadets as well. (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)

Cdt Cara LaLonde 2887 Rocky Mountain Rangers RC(Army)CC 100 Mile House BC has got a great shine on her boots as well, her secret? "Hours and hours of work and a really good base coat" (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)
CSM Tammy Nillson is Guard Coy's CSM and is at her last summer at Vernon as a cadet having spent four summers here and one at Connaught. "It feels different being a CSM, I'm used to a hands-on approach at my home corps, here I don't have as much direct contact with the cadets, I have competent platoon warrants." When asked about her greatest inspiration in cadets, "My dad, he's always pushed me to do my best and to be even better than he was. He's always been there for me giving feedback. I want to make him proud and be proud of myself." CSM Nillson has one more year in her corps before ageing out next June, she's planning on becoming a veterinarian but she hasn't dismissed the idea of joining the CF either. (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)

Anglo-Canadian and American forces clash at the Battle of Lundy's Lane (Niagara Falls, Ont); an encounter that will be the bloodiest in the war. The two armies attack and counter-attack each other in stifling heat, inflicting a total of 2000 casualties, before the Americans finally decide to withdraw from the field.
