CWO Brain Anderson CD is the reviewing officer for the rehearsal parade. CWO Anderson is retiring in the spring of 2007 with nearly 50 years in uniform. He began his military career as a cadet in 2370 Royal Canadian Artillery RC(Army)CC Regina SK and attended Vernon Army Cadet Camp in 1960 and '61 before joining the regular force, he was member of tyhe Queen's Own Rifles and The Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. He served two tour in Cyprus and several years in West Germany with 4 CMBG. Upon retiring he spent the last ten years with the Army Cadet program in various capacities including the past 10 summer in Vernon including QMSI, Camp RSM and course officer for the Guard. CWO Anderson is highly respected by cadets and staff alike and though it is a rare for an NCM, it is a fitting tribute for a senior NCM with such devotion to the cadets. (VASCTC, W. Emde)

Lt. Madeline Dahl is commended for her outstanding contribution to the professional development of Officers and Staff cadets at VACSTC. Lt Dahl is a hardworking individual whose passion for instructing Officers and Staff Cadets is inspiring. She approaches every challenge with a positive attitude and a will to succeed. She has held numerous seminars that have seen to the professional development and wellness of Officers, as well as demonstrating to Staff cadets valuable and transferable life skills. Lt. Dahl took the initiative and implemented a newsletter for the Officers (The Acer) and offered her editorial assistance for the Staff Cadet newsletter enabling the cadre to be far reaching with information, facts and tips. This day in Canadian Military History...

17 August 1917
Fighting continues around Hill 70, which the Canadians captured 2 days ago. The troops are kept busy fighting off repeated German counter-attacks, which have been ongoing since the capture of the high ground.



17 August 1940
No 1 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, becomes operational in Britain. It will still be another week before the airmen are launched into action, but their presence in the latter stages of the Battle of Britain is a welcome one.
