This day in Canadian Military History...

24 July 1908
Military units from across Canada are gathered at Quebec to help celebrate that city's tercentenary, which is presided by the Prince of Wales (soon to be King George V).

24 July 1941
Nine RCAF bombers from No. 405 Squadron take part in a 100-bomber attack on the German cruisers Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen, harboured at Brest. The mission is a success, with hits registered on the ships and nearby dockworks.
