Behind the scenes, a surprisingly large group of individuals work in various capacities, keeping the camp running. The BOR Staff or Battalion Orderly Room staff comprising of five female civilian clerks and chief clerk PO Gordy Nelson keep the paperwork moving smoothly for the nearly 1400 cadets and staff on the Training Centre.

PO Gordy Nelson sorts through the incoming daily mail. Some 150 letters and 60-80 parcels a day weighing some 200 pounds arrive at the training centre for cadets and staff alike. PO Nelson has 26 years in uniform and has been the Chief Clerk at VACSTC since 2002 after retiring from the regular force.

This day in Canadian Military History...

25 July 1814
Anglo-Canadian and American forces clash at the Battle of Lundy's Lane (Niagara Falls, Ont); an encounter that will be the bloodiest in the war. The two armies attack and counter-attack each other in stifling heat, inflicting a total of 2000 casualties, before the Americans finally decide to withdraw from the field.

25 July 1916
Western Canadians from the 1st British Columbia Regiment detonate a large mine which repulses a German attack on their positions at Mont Sorrel.
