C/MWO Sandra Procyk leads Foxtrot Company on the march past for the first intake Basic Cadet grad parade on Sicily Square with reviewing officer BGen Stu Beare CD on the dias.

 

BGen Stu Beare speaks with Cdt Bior Bior from 2276 Rocky Mountain Rangers RC(Army)CC Fort St John, BC during inspection of the parade.  BGen Beare was a cadet at Vernon Army Cadet Camp in 1975 and recently commanded Land Force Western Area of the Canadian Forces, he has recently been appointed Commander of Land Force Doctrine and Training System Designate.

6000 British regulars and colonial militia land south of Ft. Carillon (on Lake Champlain). The 2300 French regulars and 800 Canadian militia opposing them fight a delaying action before abandoning the fort.




22 July 1943

German troops defending Assoro, in central Sicily, withdraw from the town after being out-flanked by Canadians of the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment.
