Rain or shine, the training goes on. Sgt Stephanie Jennens and Sgt Noah Ellis-Worden teaching rifle drill on Sicily Square with 22 Platoon Echo Company. The cool slightly damp weather this first week of camp has been a welcome reprieve from the often hot weather.
Alpha Company's 1 Platoon (PERT) marches past the cannon on their way to another Saturday morning lecture in the light drizzle. The PERT or Platoon Physical Education and Recreational Training focuses on physical fitness and is CLI course.
Cadets from Foxtrot Company line up at the cadet bank before heading downtown for a some free time in the afternoon. Cadets in Foxtrot Company are taking the 2-week basic cadet course.
Bravo Company's Military Band led by C/WO and Drum Major Jennifer Klimchuk 1838 Royal Westminster Regiment RC(Army)CC Maple Ridge BC, marches in the Kelowna Regatta parade in downtown Kelowna, approximately 60 kilometres south of Vernon. An annual tradition since the late 1950s, the band entertains thousands of bystanders lining the 3 kilometre route. The band won 1st prize in marching band today.

16 July 1976Master Bombardier Gaston Berube is killed in a traffic accident while patrolling the US-Canada border. He is part of the Canadian Forces security team charged with keeping the border secure against terrorist incursion during the Montreal Olympics.
