Echo Company's C/CSM Pamela Taylor is in her 7th year of cadets and has spent 6 summers in Vernon. C/CSM Taylor - "I joined cadets with a friend who then quit but I carried on. I get a sense of pride being in cadets. One of the people who has inspired me is OCdt Francisco Escobar when he was our company's CSM in 2003." C/CSM Taylor plans on joining the CIC next year and returning to Vernon.

17 August 1917
Fighting continues around Hill 70, which the Canadians captured 2 days ago. The troops are kept busy fighting off repeated German counter-attacks, which have been ongoing since the capture of the high ground.
17 August 1940
No 1 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, becomes operational in Britain. It will still be another week before the airmen are launched into action, but their presence in the latter stages of the Battle of Britain is a welcome one.
