With Final Parade and the Sunset Ceremony coming up on Friday, crews are busy preparing Dieppe Square, on Friday night there will be upwards 2000 guests in attendance. 

 

A method of instruction lecture on Sicily Square a section of cadets from Alpha Company, Cdt Coralle Maille is conducting her class in French while being assessed by C/WO Tiffany Church 407 Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders RC(Army)CC Winnipeg, NB herself fully bilingual .

 

Cdt Coralle Maille 2938 Royal Canadian Hussars RC(Army)CC St.Constants, QC is one of six cadets from Quebec this summer. She has spent two summers on course in Valcartier ACSTC as well as one summer at Cap-Chat ACSTC. Currently she is on the adventure course. 

 

The fourth annual Band Concert Calliegh on Coutts Common being held in the evening.

 

Nearly the entire battalion enjoyed the show.

This day in Canadian Military History...

15 August 1917
Canadian troops attack the German defences on the high ground of Hill 70, just north of Lens, and reach all of their objectives in less than four hours.


15 August 1943
American and Canadian troops land at Kiska, in Alaska's Aleutian chain, only to find that the Japanese garrison has abandoned the island. 4 Canadian soldiers are killed by mines and booby traps.

15 August 1945 
The Canadian Army Pacific Force was disbanded after the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in early August by atomic bombs, and Japan's subsequent surrender. The bulk of the force had assembled at Vernon to train.


15 August 1950
HMCS Cayuga and HMS Mounts Bay anchor off the Korean port of Yosu and begin shelling the dockyard facilities of the Communist base. On the same day the 2nd Bn PPCLI was formed.
