Vernon ACSTC Museum update: 11 May 2013 Follow this link for more info

All right people, listen up.

We need your help. We are developing a museum at Vernon ACSTC, the “VACSTC Museum and Interpretation Centre”; a satellite museum of the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives. However, in order for this to be a success we need to build displays, this is where you come in. We're building full height display cabinets with tempered glass. Some very interesting and unique displays and re-creations are planned, a partial full-size recreation of the barracks circa 1970s that can be changed to any decade. The new museum located at Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre will benefit thousands of cadets and staff every summer, as well, it will be accessible to you. The museum will focus on the army cadet program at Vernon since 1949. This opportunity is tremendous.

What do we need? $25,000. We already have some seed money thanks to the generous donation of a few former cadets. The Vernon Museum will issue tax receipts for donations. This is going to happen quickly. We need the funds as soon as possible as displays have to be in place by June 15, 2013 . The grand opening will likely be early in July, more info to follow.

Donations can be made to:    Vernon Museum

mailing address:

Greater Vernon Museum & Archives
3009 - 32nd Avenue
Vernon
, B.C., V1T 2L8

Please add that you would like this donation to go towards the "VACSTC Museum and Interpretation Centre"

Thank you!

Benefit Dinner for Hunter Guindon--#9 Army Cadet with Cystic Fibroses, 12 February 2010

Captain J. C. Burgoin, Commanding Officer, No. 9 RCACC (London) has asked us to forward this information and invitation on to the Members of 9 RCACC (London) Alumni.

One of our Cadets was diagnosed with Cystic Fibroses in August of 2009. As a result the Unit has decided to hold a benefit dinner and silent auction with music and dancing to follow to raise some funds for the equipment and financial burden that Cystic Fibroses has caused on the Cadet’s family.

We will be holding the benefit dinner at the Wolseley Barrack Officers' Mess on Friday, the 12th February 2010.

I am hoping that Members of 9 RCACC (London) Alumni are interested in purchasing tickets for $35.00 per person to the event (deadline 6 February 2010).

If anyone would like to make a donation for the Guindon Family, cheques should be made payable to "Captain J. C. Burgoin" and in the memo line, indicate "Benefit Dinner" and mailed to the following addresss. This will allow the donations to be added to the Guindon Family donations.
Attention: Captain J.C Burgoin

Also we are taking donations for the silent auction that we will be holding that night.

Any support from any of the Members of the #9 Alumni will be greatly appreciated by the Family of our Cadet and the Corps.

I have also attached a copy of the poster with the information

I am looking to contact former Cadets who were in the DRUM AND BUGLE, DRUM AND TRUMPET BANDS at ACTC VERNON
and IPPERWASH. I am writing a book on THE HISTORY OF CANADIAN MILITARY TRUMPET AND BUGLE BANDS and would
like to do a piece on the Army Cadet Bands.

I am looking for photos, names of Band Officers, Instructors, Drum Majors, ANYTHING you think
someone would want to know about the band. I would be very much interested in any recordings of the bands aswell.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Just the heads up that the Seaforth Cadets are holding a Reunion on October 18th this year.
Event is open to the public but mainly for past and present army Cadets of the Seaforth highlanders.
We hope to have a few computers set up with the Army cadet History Web site and some other presentations playing so that people might be able to browse and identify some of the mystery photos etc.
