The Major-General Howard Award/Medal
The award is presented annually to an outstanding cadet in each region based on the results of the Gold Star/NSCE Program combined with an assessment of his/her over all performance as a cadet. The award takes the the form of an scroll donated by General Howard, a former Colonel Commandant of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets. The following criteria are considered in the selection process:
- Length of time as a cadet
- Conduct
- Contribution to the Cadet Corps
- Community Involvement
- Peer relationship
- Standing in the Gold Star/NSCE exams
- Academic rating
- Results of Cadet career courses
Initially this award was accompanied by a plaque, since 1985 a medal has been awarded to the cadet.
