It's not known precisely how the Cadet Basic Parachute
Course began other than it ran as an experimental course in Rivers in
1967 and took several years to be reinstated, that occurred in Edmonton in 1972.
Many individuals were involved in creating the course including Capt
(Later HCol) Howie Cook of 2551 Cadet Corps. Since then however, it is
the most challenging and perhaps most rewarding course any army cadet
can aspire to taking. The course is identical in every respect to the
regular force run course and as a matter of course the wings awarded
to the cadet upon completion can be worn in his or her later military
or para-military career.
