This corps was formed 10 Feb 1899 as the Toronto Collegiate Institute Cadet Corps. redisig: Toronto Collegiate Institute Cadet Brigade, Mar 4, 1918. The Regiment was reorganized 24 Mar 1922 into a number of companies, each representing 17 schools in the Toronto educational system. Toronto Collegiate Institute Cadet Regt, Toronto Rotary Highlander. The Regiment was disbanded 19 Dec 1945, and number 48 was continued in the Humberside Collegiate Institute, which had been "D" Company of the Regiment. Other companies of the regiment formed individual corps from 2216 to 2226, and they disbanded between 1964 and 1968. Humberside was affiliated with the Toronto Scottish. The corps was disbanded 31 August 1966. A corps flag bearing the number 48 was still existing, enquiries to be made to the Huberside Collegiate or the Toronto Scottish.

The Toronto Collegiate Institute Cadet Regiment (A, B and C Coy) was originally formed 10 Feb 1899. D Coy was formed 18 Feb 1913. In 1914 E, F and G Coys were formed (MO 562). In 1915 H, I, K and L Coys were formed (MO 12, 165, 165, 179 respectively). M Coy was formed 12 Mar 1917. In 1918, A,B,C and D Coys of the 4th Battalion, 2 Military District was formed 25 Feb 1918. E Coys of 1 and 2 Battalion were formed 16 Apr 1919. N Coy was formed 4 Feb 1921. The Regiment was reorganized 24 Mar 1922 into a number of companies, each representing 17 schools in the Toronto educational system:

A - Jarvis Collegiate Institute
B - Riverdale Collegiate Institute 
C - Malvern Collegiate Instititute
D - North Toronto Collegiate Institute
E - Technical High School
F - Technical High School
G - Technical High School
H - Technical High School
2 Battalion:
A - Parkdale Collegiate Institute
B - Habord Collegiate Institute
C - Habord Collegiate Institute
D - Humberside Collegiate Institute
E - Oakwood Collegiate Institute
F - Oakwood Collegiate Institute
G - High School of Commerce 
H - Davenport Collegiate Institute. D Coy 2nd Battalion was disbanded 16 Feb 1934. It reformed 25 Nov 1939. Coy 1 Battalion, and H Coy 2 Battalion were disbanded 12 Dec 1945. The remaining Coys were disbanded 19 Dec 1945. J Coy 1 Battalion which had formed 25 Nov 1939 disbanded 19 Dec 1945. J Coy 2 Battalion which had formed 7 Dec 1939 was disbanded 12 Dec 1945. K Coy 1 Battalion which formed 25 Nov 1939 was disbanded 19 Dec 1945. K Coy 2 Battalion which formed 14 Dec 1939 was disbanded 19 Dec 1945. 
20 Dec 1945, many new corps formed with names similar to the old corps. On this date Number 48 was continued in the Humberside Collegiate Institute, which had been "D" Company of the Regiment. The rest of the corps became:

1-E/1-F/1-G/1-H became 2219
J became 2220
1-K became 2221
2-A became 2222
2-B/2-C became 2223
2-E/2-F became 2224
2-G became 2225
2-K became 2226
48 Humberside was affiliated with the Toronto Scottish. The corps was disbanded 31 August 1966. A corps flag bearing the number 48 was still existing, enquiries to be made to the Huberside Collegiate or the Toronto Scottish. 
Authority was granted for the formation of this Corps on 1 Nov 71 under the number 2894. In Mar 1972 a request was made for a change of designation and the Corps became known as No. 48 Highlanders Cadet Corps.
