History -   

This Corps was formed 1 Feb 81 as Fort Vermilion Army Cadet Corps. It was sponsored by Fort Vermilion School Division No. 52 and co-sponsored by Branch 274, Royal Canadian Legion. It was affiliated with 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron and supported by CFB Edmonton. Eff 12 Jul 84 the Corps was placed on probation due to low strengths for a period of not less than six months (letter 1087-11 (Det Comd) dated 12 Jul 84 refers). D Cdts Admin 1601 of 14 Sep 88 effectively changed the Affiliated Unit from 408 Tac Hel Sqn to Base Electrical Mechanical Engineers - CFB Edmonton. VCDS Stats 98 give the affiliated unit as Nil.

Formed – February 1, 1981 Commanding Officer Capt. Henry Charles.  Sponsored by the Fort Vermilion School Board, Branch 243 Hallet-Hansley  Fort Vermilion Legion and Branch 274 High Level Royal Canadian Legion.  Parades were initially in the Fort Vermilion Public School .  

January 1, 1984 – Capt. Bill Hart assumed command of a Corps that was down to less than 15 cadets and finished the year with 9 cadets.  By June 1985, there were over 20 cadets with cadets being bused from High Level.

During school renovations in 1985 the Corps paraded at St. Mary’s School and the Corps offices were moved to Branch 243 Hallet-Hansley Branch Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Vermilion .

August 1986 – Command temporarily assumed by Lt. Bruce Simpson
