History -

2638 Hinton Army Cadet Corps was formed 1 Mar 59 and sponsored by the Optimist Club of Hinton and affiliated with 25th Fd Sqn RCE. A letter (WC 2001-12/0 (G)) dated 8 Dec 61 changed sponsor to Branch 249, Royal Canadian Legion. Eff 9 Nov 71 the Corps disbanded.
2638 Hinton Army Cadet Corps reactivated 1 Sep 72. It was sponsored by Branch 249, Royal Canadian Legion, Hinton and affiliated with 8th Fd Engr Regt (M). In the 1977 annual inspection report this Corps was placed on probation until 31 Dec 77 due to low strength. A letter 1085-15 dated 30 Jan 78 extended probation to 31 Jun 78. Probation was removed. In the 1980 annual inspection report the Corps was again placed on probation until the 1981 annual inspection at which time probation was removed.
Eff 13 Sep 94 affiliation changed to Loyal Edmonton Regt, 4th Bn, PPCLI (DCdts Adm 656 refers).
