History -   

This corps was formed 1 Mar 57 as Canadian Army Europe Cadet Corps under the sponsorship and affiliation with HQ 4 Canadian Infantry Brigade Group in Soest, West Germany. The CDS personally changed the designation to Canadian Army Overseas Cadet Corps. Letter 1087-11-5691 dated 20 Sep 71 recommended that affiliation become Royal Canadian Dragoons, designation Royal Canadian Dragoons (Overseas) Cadet Corps and sponsor HQ 4 CMBG. D Cdts Msg 880 of 12 Jun 86 effectively changed the sponsor to Branch No. 2, Royal Canadian Legion, Lahr and also changed the affiliation to 129 Airfield Air Defence Battery, Lahr. D Cdts Msg 1343 of 6 Nov 86 changed the official designation to Lahr Army Cadet Corps. D Cdts Admin 0901 of 17 May 88 changed the Affiliated Unit from 129 Airfield Air Defence Battery to 4th Air Defence Regiment RCA, Lahr. D Cdts Admin 1668 of 20 Oct 89 changed sponsor to 4th Air Defence Regiment, RCA. 24 Jul 91 appointed 1 Bn R22R as co-sponsor and co-affiliated unit (D Cdts Adm 3349). D Cdts Adm 5742 of 11 Dec 92 changed the affiliation and sponsor from 4th Air Defence Regt to 8th Cdn Hussars Lahr. This corps was disbanded 15 Oct 93 (D Cdts Adm 937).

1962, training on the FN-C! 7.62mm rifle at summer camp at Ft Chambly. During this time, it was still cost prohibitive to send cadets back to Canada for summer camp, the solution was to create a similar six-week but smaller summer camp in West Germany
