History - This Corps was originally formed 1 Sep 04 as 20 West Kent Street School. Minutes of the P.E.I. Strathcona Trust Fund for 1943 and 1944 reveal that West Kent School Cadet Corps, #148 Queen Square School Cadet Corps, and the Prince of Wales Cadet Corps were disbanded in 1943 and the cadets were amalgamated into an Open corps known as the 1993 Charlottetown Army Cadet Corps effective 28 Nov 1943. Official disbandment date of #20 is listed as 6 Mar 1944. This arrangement lasted until the 1946 annual inspection, and the corps disbanded effective 30 June 1947. Both West Kent and Queen Square were re-established as separate Cadet Corps.
Corps wore the WWII era shoulder flash "20 West Kent School C.C."
The Aug 1900 photograph of the Charlottetown Boy's Brigade was the precursor to #20 Cadet Corps
Shortly before 1914, this picture clearly shows the uniform of #20 Cadet Corps, 7-button khaki tunics, wedge caps, snake belts. The cadet standing on the far left is wearing a cross belt. Metal shoulder titles "20" are faintly visible.
