Lacombe Arena (1960s)

 

History -   

This Cadet Corps was formed 15 Jan 1915 as Lacombe Public School CC and sponsored by the same. No info available until 1946 when the corps affiliated with The Calgary Highlanders. affil.: Calgary Highlanders, Nov 22, 1946. affil.: 78th Anti-Tank Battery (SP) RCA, Nov 6, 1948. In 1948 this affiliation was transferred to 78th Anti-Tank Battery (Self-Propelled) RCA. In 1951 a troup of K.O.C.R.'s was formed in Lacombe an it became apparent that an affiliation with them would be more advantageous. affil.: King's Own Calgary Regt (14 Armd Regt), Oct 20, 1951. 17 Nov 1954 the corps status was changed from "School" to "open" and was redesignated as 434 Lacombe cadet Corps. IN 1968 the Corps requeted a change of affiliation, which was granted, to 78th Fd Bty, RCA(M). In the 1980 annual inspection report the Corps wa placed on probation due to low strenth until 30 Jun 81. At some time the sponsor changed to Lacombe Lions club. Message D Cdts 522 dated 29 Apr 85 changed the sponsor to Royal canadian Legion, Branch 79. The corps was disbanded 27 Nov 1987. H.Q. 12-L-27
