This Corps was formed 7 Jan 1911 and became known as The Amherst Academy Cadet Corps. affil.: Cumberland Highlanders Nov 1929. affil.: North Nova Scotia Highlanders Regt Nov 6, 1937. affil.: 2nd (R) Bn North Nova Scotia Highlanders Regt Nov 24, 1942. Redisig: 272 Amherst High School Cadet Corps Mar 8, 1943. From 1942-1954 the corps was known as the Amherst High School Cadet Corps. It was sponsored by the Board of School Commissioners of the town of Amherst and affiliated with The Nova Scotia Highlanders (North). On 21 Sep 54 the Corps redesignated as Amherst Regional High School Cadet Corps. affil.: West Nova Scotia Regt Jan 1, 1955. In 1979 (Annual Inspection Report) the Corps changed sponsor to N.S. Highlanders (no official change). Effective 1 Sep 83 there was a change of sponsor to lst Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders and a change of designation to Nova Scotia Highlanders Cadet Corps. The Corps changed from a School to an Open Corps. This corps was placed on probation Aug 91.
