History -
This Corps was formed 1 Sep 59 and designated Camp Petawawa Cadet Corps. affil.: High School Camp Petawawa, Sept 1, 1959. On 15 May 64 it was redesignated The Canadian Guards Cadet Corps and on 6 Oct 70 it became known as Canadian Forces Base Petawawa Cadet Corps. Effective 7 Sep 79 change of affiliation and sponsor to The Canadian Airborne Regiment. Effective 21 Aug 79 change of sponsor to Branch 517, Royal Canadian Legion, Petawawa. Letter (1085-11-4 SSO Cdts) dated 21 Aug 80 states due to lack of cadets and no 1980 annual inspection, Corps to be placed on probation until 1981 annual inspection. Effective 28 Jan 81 change of designation to Airborne Cadet Corps. Letter 1085-11-4 (DCOS Ops) dated 22 Apr 81 removed Corps from probation. Eff 26 Mar 96 affiliation changed to 3 RCR Petawawa and designation changed to 2642 The Royal Cdn Regt (Petawawa) Cadet Corps (D Cdts Adm 216). VCDS Cadet Stats give the affiliated unit as nil.
