History -   

This Corps was originally formed 8 May 1951 as St Kevin's Boys School Cadet Corps. It was sponsored by St Kevin's Boys School and affiliated with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. In May 56 authority was granted to change affiliation to 166 (Nfld) Fd Regt RCA. The Corps changed affiliation in Oct 61 to the Royal Newfoundland Regiment again. The Corps was placed on probation 29 Nov 74 (MARC: 1085-11-3 (Cdts) dated 29 Nov 74 refers). The Corps disbanded 1 Mar 78 (message D Cdts 167 dated 2 Mar 78 refers). 
The Corps re-formed 1 Sep 85 as Bell Island Legion Cadet Corps. It was sponsored by Branch 18, Royal Canadian Legion, affiliated with 727 Comm Sqn and supported by CFS St. John's.

Eff 19 May 93 (D Cdts Adm 531 refers) the Army Cadet League of Canada concurred in a change of sponsor from Royal Cdn Legion Branch 18, Bell Island, Nfld to Royal Cdn Legion Branch 18, Bell Island, Nfld and Bell Island Cadet Parents Committee (1992).
