History -
This Corps was originally formed as No. 2867 under the sponsorship of the Mayor True Davidson according to information on file as a request to change the number to 1860; reason being that the Corps affilieated unit, The Queen's Own Rifles, originated in the year 1860 and it would increase the significance of the Corps title. This request was approved and made effective 8 Apr 1971. Effective Mar 72 sponsorship was assumed by QOR, RCMP and the Legion No. 344. Letter 1085-11-4 (DCOS Ops) dated 13 Oct 83 placed Corps on probation due to an insufficient number of cadets and lack of qualified instructors until the 1984 annual inspection. Effective 30 Jun 84 probation was removed (1085-11-4 (DCOS Ops) dated 31 Jul 84 letter refers).
