Springhill High School Cadet Corps was formed 5 Feb 42 under the sponsorship of the Board of School Commissioners of the town of Springhill. The Corps was affiliated with lst Bn, N.S. Highrs (North). The Corps obtained (in 1977) a co-sponsor with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 17. On 23 Feb 78 (MARC: 1085-11-3 (SSO Cdts)) the Corps was placed on probation due to an ineffective training plan, failure of cadet band and unacceptable administration. Eff 1 Sep 83 the Corps redesignated as Springhill Legion Cadet Corps and changed to sole sponsor - The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 17. It also became an 'open' corps. The Corps was disbanded 6 Nov 89. (Old UIC is 5881)

Eff 1 Oct 92, the Corps was reformed with same support units. The new UIC is 5278. Eff 25 Nov 92 CFB Halifax appointed Support Base for corps. Former support base was CFB Moncton. Affiliated unit B Coy of the 1st Bn, NS Highs (North)..
