History -
The formation of this Corps was athorized in 1922 and designated as 1050 The Strathmore Public School Cadet Corps. In 1926 the Corps was disbanded due to inactivity and parents' objection to the type of training.
Strathmore Public School Cadet Corps
In 1928 the Corps was reformed under the sponsorship of the School Board, with the same designation. In 1947 authority was granted for the affiliation with 68th Light Anti-Aircraft Regt RCA. In 1956 a change of designation was granted and the corps became known as 1050 Strathmore Cadet Corps, and affiliation was transferred to the south Alberta Light Horse (29th Armament Regt). affil.: South Alberta Light Horse, Jun 1, 1956. redisig: Strathmore Cadet Corps, Jun 1, 1956. affil.: Kings Own Calgary Regt, Dec 24, 1959. In 1959 the corps changed their affiliation to the King's Own Calgary Regiment (RCAC). Early in 1968 the Corps was place don probation due to low attendance. An extension of probation was granted into 1969 and the corps successfully terminated the probation period. The 1971 annual report recommended that the Corps be again placed on probation because of low attendance and below average efficiency. The corps was disbanded 12 Mar 1975.
