[In 1972, a new principal, Don Gutteridge, took charge of the school.  Citing difficulty in recruiting teachers as instructors, and a desire of the school to make other use of the space that the corps orderly office and QM store occupied, he withdrew sponsorship and support for the corps.  It became an open corps, changing its affiliation from 709 (Toronto) Communications Regiment to the Queen's York Rangers, and moved from the school to Fort York Armoury.]
