CADET INSPECTION MONDAY

 

No. 318 Woodstock Cadet Corps will hold its Annual Inspection this coming Monday, May 27th, at 7 p.m. in the Woodstock Armoury.  Inspecting Officer will be Major E.A. Flewwelling (Retired), former Area Cadet Officer of New Brunswick Area.

 The Corps will present its march-past in line and in column of route.  This will be followed by four demonstrations on phases of annual training.

 At the conclusion of the demonstrations, the annual efficiency trophies will be presented.

The public is cordially invited to attend.

ANNUAL HS CADET INSPECTION

 No. 318 Woodstock Cadet Corps held its Annual Inspection on May 27 in the Woodstock Armoury.  A good attendance of parents and interested spectators was on hand to view the ceremonies.  Major E.A. Flewelling, CD (ret) was Inspecting Officer.  Also in the inspecting party were Capt. R. Kane and WO D. Hannen of the District Cadet Staff.

 The Corps marched past in line and in column of route, this being followed by the advance in review order. Demonstrations following the march-past were: Band, led by Drum-Major William Harrison; Gun drill, led by Cadet Sgt. Patrick Thorburne, rife FN (C1), conducted by Cadet Lt. Richard Billings; a fire mission, under the direction of Cadet Capt. Robert Caldwell.  This latter demonstration used the 105 mm howitzer and all equipment for plotting the fire mission. 

 At the conclusion of the demonstrations, the annual awards were made.  The 89th Battery Trophy was presented to the best first year cadet, Cadet Douglas Arch, by Major R.J. Flemming, Battery Commander.  Cadet Capt. Robert Caldwell, the Corps Commander, was presented the 89th Battery Sergeants Mess trophy by Warrant Officer R. McHatten. 

 AWARDED TROPHY

Cadet Drum-Major William Harrison was awarded the 89th Battery Band Trophy by the ex-bandmaster, Lt. B.L. Bragdon and the Woodstock Branch No. 11 trophy for the best rifle shot in the Corps was awarded to Cadet Simon Clark by Mr. L. Parker, first vice-president of the Branch.

 The Flag Party consisted of Cadet Lt. Richard Billings, Cadet Sgt. Brian Williams and Cadet W.O. Emery Dionne.  Platoon Sergeant was Cadet Sgt. Peter Partington.

 The Corps instructors are Capt. J.D. Loukes, CD, Lt. D.A.N. Leeming, CD, Mr. G.S. Sproul, CD and Sergeant R.A. MacFarlane.
