CADET INSPECTION THIS THURSDAY

 

The annual inspection of No. 318 Cadet Corps of Woodstock Composite High School will be held this Thursday in the Community Arena on Island Park .  The inspection starts at 2:00 p.m.

 

The Corps will go through their paces under Capt. LeRoy Dykeman while the Cadet Band will be led by CSM Malcolm Jones on the March Past.

 

Inspecting the Corps will be Brigadier J.E. Anderson, DSO, CD of Fredericton.

 

The Cadets will also present a display of map using, bren gun, rifle, along with the march past in line and in column of route.

 

The public is cordially invited to attend the inspection and see the displays prepared by the cadets.

NO. 318 CADET CORPS INSPECTED

 

Brigadier J.E. Anderson, area commandant, commended the Woodstock High School Cadet Corps No. 318 on its turnout at the annual inspection last Thursday afternoon on the Island Park .

 

The inspecting officer was received with a general salute, followed by an inspection of the ranks and the march past, after which the corps advanced in review order.

 

The review was followed by demonstration of rifle, light machine gun and map using.  The bank played several selections during demonstrations.

 

The inspection closed with an address by Brig. Anderson in which he complimented the Corps and its instructors on their efficient showing.

 

At the conclusion of the inspection, the inspecting party with the cadet officers and NCO’s were entertained at a tea in the home economics room of the school, while the rest of the cadets attended a party in the music room.

 

The Corps is commanded by Capt. LeRoy Dykeman with Lieutenants Bryan Patterson as platoon commander and WO2 Ronald Hawkes as company Sergeant Major and Wayne McLaughlin as bombardier.  The band is directed by Lieut. David Craig, with WO2 Malcolm Hones and Staff Sergeant David Lockwood as assistants.

 

The flag party consisted of Lieut. William Cox and Sergeants Charles Coffey and Richard Patterson.

 

The Corps instructors are Major J.B. Carr, chief band master, Lieut. D.A.N. Leeming and Lieut. J.D. Loukes and Staff Sgt. Gerald Sproule as assistant band master.

CADETS ORGANIZE FOR 1959-1960 SEASON

 

With school back in session after the summer recess the first parade of Woodstock Cadet Corps No. 318 will be held Thursday afternoon following classes.  The Corps in under the direction of Lieut. J.D. Loukes and Lieut. D. Leeming.

 

It is expected that 40 boys – that is the total allotment for the school – will take part in the training program this year.  Boys in Grades 7 to 12 are eligible to join Cadets.

 

During the season, the cadets will take instructions and drill with close on weapons, map reading, shooting and tactics.
