LOCAL CADETS HOST FREDERICTON CORPS

Something new in the history of the No. 318 Woodstock High School Cadet Corps was added when on Saturday, May 4, the local Corps played host to No. 242 Fredericton High School Corps.  Basketball and recreational shooting were the order of the day.  Four cadets from the Woodstock group, Cadets Way , Faulkner, Milbury and McLaughlin, competed against four of the visitors who emerged winners by a score of 347 to 388 in the shooting match.  In basketball, Woodstock overcame the Fredericton team by a 53-47 score.  For Woodstock cadet Lavoie starred by scoring 22 points.  Referees were Bob Barrett and Jack Connell.

The friendly rivalry between the two corps was climaxed by an ice-cream party in the school lunch room.  Instructors of the Woodstock Corps, Major J.B. Carr, Mr. D. Leeming and Lt. J.D. Loukes supervised the proceedings.  Mr. R. McCormack was officer in charge of the Fredericton party.

It is hoped to reciprocate the visit in the near future, if arrangements can be made before the annual inspections take place.
