CADET INSPECTION TUESDAY AFTERNOON

 

Woodstock High School Principal J.B. Carr announced this week that the annual Cadet inspection will be held next Tuesday afternoon, May 22 at 2:30 pm .

 

The inspection will be held on the school grounds with the Inspecting Officer, Major R.A. Virtue, of N.B. Area Headquarters.  Major Virtue will be assisted by Capt. K.C. Cook.

 

Company Commander of the high school cadet corps this year is Reginald Lindsay, with Robert Jones the company sergeant major.  Number one platoon commander is Lt. Chipman Hamilton, and the platoon sergeant, Robert Smith.  Number two platoon commander is Lt. MacPhail Jones, with the platoon sergeant, Richard Montgomery.

 

In addition to the ceremonial drill the cadets will give a display of physical training, and following that will break off into a demonstration of the regular training methods which they have learned.  The cadets will demonstrate working wireless, map reading, first aid, and will also exhibit their prowess with the Bren gun and the Sten gun.

 

While it is hoped that the Tuesday inspection will be blessed with fine weather, Major Carr said that in the event of rain the maneuvers would be held on the Armoury Drill floor at the same time, 2:30 pm .

ANNUAL INSPECTION OF WOODSTOCK CADET CORPS

 

The annual inspection of the Woodstock Cadet Corps No. 318, was held Tuesday afternoon of this week on the Fisher School grounds.  The inspection was conducted by Major R.A. Virtue of N.B. Headquarters, accompanied by Capt. C.K. Crook.  Also present were His Worship, Mayor M.H. Craig, Mr. E.R. Jones, chairman of the School Board; Mr. Percy Fillmore, chairman of the local Cadet Committee, and Corps instructors J.B. Carr, L.R. Wilson, and W.S. Brownrigg.

 

Following inspection the cadets gave demonstrations in wireless, map reading, first aid and weapon training.  Eight members of the Corps were awarded badges for marksmanship by the inspecting officer.  They were: Clair Robinson, Ralph Robinson, Ed Connell, Dennis Hersey, David Jones, Mac Jones, Hollie Thornton and Fred Webb.
