#2817 Cadet Corps
1992
Over 5 weekends in October 1992, Lindsay
cadets camped out at Ken Reid Conservation Area (Lindsay, ON) to build a 44-foot
long footbridge with the assistance of the 2nd Field Engineer Regiment (Militia)
of Toronto.
Until this time, there was no bridge over this gap in the Victoria Rail Trail
(what would become part of the Trans Canada Trail).

Unfortunately, the bridge was torn down a year later by the snowmobile club, who refused to assist with the cadet project, so they could construct a bridge that would allow for snowmobiles to cross.

In 1992, in response to cadet demand, the corps had jackets made up for cadets to purchase. The jackets came with the round patch sewn on the front, a Royal Canadian Legion patch on right sleeve, and a patch of crossed Canada and Ontario flags on the left sleeve. When the cadets built a bridge in 1992, a patch was given to all participants. (courtesy Sara Howe, archivist 2817 Cadet Corps)
