#242 Cadet Corps

1910s

 

March 10th, 1910

Fredericton High School Cadet Corps, the predecessor to the present unit, was established as a "Drill Association" for young men under the direction of Major F.A. Good. This makes 242 ( Fredericton ) Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps one of the very oldest Corps in Atlantic Canada.

 

May 1910

Corps issued 42 rifles for training purposes for the first time. (May 7, 1910 The Fredericton Daily Gleaner)

 

1919

Captain Page becomes the Officer Commanding of the Fredericton High School Cadet Corps. He remains the OC until 1935 making him the longest serving "Commanding Officer" of the corps by quite a bit.
