2006

2276 RCACC Fort St. John

60th Anniversary

May 26 & 27 2006

The weekend event started on the Friday evening with an unveiling of a 2276 RCACC exhibit at the Fort St. John Museum. The Museum has allowed the cadet corps a corner to set up and display their history. Major Dan Davies (ACICO), OPI for the weekend event, welcomed the guests and along with Captain Gregg Nicoll (CO 2276) cut the string holding the curtain. On display are artifacts and pictures of 2276's sixty years of history with the community. Of special note was who was in attendance at this event; a number of former CO's going back to 1949. See below for the photograph. Following the unveiling, guests were welcomed to a wine and cheese function held at the RC Legion.

Saturday morning started off with the Annual Ceremonial Review at the North Peace High School. The Reviewing Officer was Major-General Robert Gaudreau, MMM, CD (ret'd) Colonel-Commandant of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets. In the afternoon of Saturday, the cadets formed up in front of the Legion and marched up one of the main streets of Fort St. John and halted in front of City Hall. There the CO performed the necessary requirements for requesting the Freedom of the City from the Mayor, and it was granted. 2276 RCACC now has the Freedom of City for Fort St. John BC.

The day concluded with a Mess Dinner being held for all corps staff, former cadets and special guests who arrived for the event. The dinner was highlighted by short speeches from all the former CO's. Some very interesting stories! The evening concluded with an encouraging speech by the Colonel-Commandant.
