 Biography

Capt Brian J. Wright, CD

 

Captain Wright was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and educated at Kitsilano Secondary School and the University of Victoria (Bachelor of Arts – History).  He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (2472 – 15th Field Artillery Regiment) in 1981, attending courses in Vernon, Pat Bay, Petawawa and Baden-Sollingen.

In 1988 he enrolled in the Canadian Forces as a Cadet Instructor List officer, serving at 2472 RC(Army)CC and Grouse Mountain Cadet Camp, and annually at Cadet Summer Training Centres including Whitehorse, Banff and Vernon.  He served with 1726 ‘C Company’ Canadian Scottish Regiment Cadet Corps, 1991 to 1996, and was its Commanding Officer from December 1994 to June 1996.  He was a member of the Directing Staff, Junior Officer Leadership Course at Camp Ipperwash and CFB Borden, 1993-1995, and served as the Adjutant, Vernon Military Camp 1996-1998. 

Captain Wright was attached to the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary’s) from October 1996, re-mustering to Infantry Officer and completing a component transfer to the Primary Reserve in 1998.  He served as Assistant Adjutant, Pipes and Drums Officer, 2 Platoon Commander and Second-in-Command ‘A’ Company, completing the Basic Infantry Officer Course at the Combat Training Centre, CFB Gagetown in 2001.  From November 2001 he was posted to the Canadian Parachute Centre in Trenton, Ontario, as Administration Officer, The Canadian Forces Parachute Team (The SkyHawks).

Captain Wright completed a component transfer to the Regular Force in 2003 and was badged to The Royal Canadian Regiment, serving with the 2nd Battalion as Technical Adjutant, Staff Officer to the Commander (Task Force Haiti 2004), LAV Captain and Second-in-Command, Hotel Company.  In 2005 he was posted to the Infantry School where he presently serves as Directing Staff.

Captain Wright achieved the gold standard in the Duke of Edinburgh Challenge to Youth, is a military parachutist and a recreational SCUBA diver.  He is married to Ms. Maryse Larocque of Hawkesbury, Ontario, and they presently make their home in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
